Why did you choose Brown?
Both my college and medical school were in rural settings, and I wanted to move to a city and work at hospitals with higher patient volumes and diverse patient populations. I felt like Brown could provide me with a superb education, a strong foundation in general surgery, and significant hands-on experience with complex cases. On my interview day, I got a sense of the lively, warm community that residents and faculty have created. I was also inspired by the wide range of cutting-edge research at Brown, and its support for residents in research, including longitudinal mentorship, conference stipends, and enthusiastic faculty. The opportunity to be involved with tech-design and innovation is also exciting and something I wanted to learn more about.
What are your favorite things about Providence & RI?
It’s a beautiful, walkable city with incredible architecture, a legendary food scene, wonderful beaches, the RISD museum, and the Newport Mansions with the picturesque cliff walk close by.
Plans for the future?
I intend to pursue a fellowship in the future, but I am not set on a specific path just yet! During my training, I look forward to exploring the broad range of surgical specialties that I haven’t had a chance to engage with so far. I love being involved with medical education, mentorship, teaching, and research.
