Advancing Excellence in Breast Surgery Through Clinical Innovation, Research, and Education
The Division of Breast Surgery at Brown University is committed to advancing the field of breast surgery through exceptional patient care, innovative research, and comprehensive surgical education. Our faculty are nationally recognized leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease and are dedicated to training the next generation of academic surgeons.
Working within the multidisciplinary environment of Brown University Health and The Warren Alpert Medical School, our surgeons collaborate closely with experts in medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, radiology, pathology, genetics, and survivorship to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Education is a cornerstone of our mission. Medical students, residents, and fellows gain exposure to the full spectrum of modern breast surgery, including breast-conserving therapy, mastectomy, oncoplastic techniques, axillary surgery, management of high-risk breast disease, and multidisciplinary cancer care. Trainees participate in complex clinical decision-making while working alongside faculty actively engaged in clinical research, quality improvement, and innovation.
The Division is dedicated to advancing breast cancer treatment through clinical investigation, surgical innovation, and collaborative research that improves outcomes and enhances the patient experience. Faculty members contribute to national research initiatives while mentoring trainees interested in academic surgery and translational research.
Whether pursuing a career in general surgery, surgical oncology, or academic medicine, learners benefit from a collaborative environment that emphasizes excellence in clinical care, scholarship, leadership, and lifelong learning.
