Why did you choose Brown?
I chose Brown because it offered the kind of training environment I was looking for — one where I’d be challenged to grow clinically while being supported as a person. During my interview, I was struck by how grounded and approachable the residents and faculty were. There was a clear sense of camaraderie, mutual respect, and pride in the work being done. The program’s strong operative experience, diverse patient population, and commitment to community health in Providence really resonated with me. I could picture myself here — learning, contributing, and becoming the kind of surgeon I want to be.
What are your favorite things about Providence & RI?
I love how close everything is — beaches, the Cliff Walk, Block Island, and even other cities in the Northeast. Being near the water is a huge perk, and it makes it easy to enjoy quick getaways during limited time off.
Plans for the future?
To be determined! I’m still exploring the different paths within general surgery and am looking forward to gaining broad exposure during residency. My goal is to keep an open mind, learn as much as I can, and find the area that best fits my skills and interests.
