Department of Surgery

Dr. Portalatin earned his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine and a Masters in Public Health from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014.  He went on to the General Surgery Residency Program at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center which he completed in 2019. After residency he rounded out his training with two fellowship programs, Trama and Surgical Critical Care through Rhode Island Hospital and Acute Burn and Reconstruction at Massachusetts General Hospital, completed in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Dr. Portalatin’s special interests include burn care and graduate and undergraduate medic al education.

When not taking care of patients, Dr. Portalatin is an accomplished athlete. He is a long-distance runner and has competed internationally in rowing.
