Biography
Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Endocrine Oncology Surgery at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he later served as an Assistant Professor-equivalent research physician and endocrine surgeon. Most recently, he completed the prestigious Harvard Surgical Leadership Program through Harvard Medical School.
Throughout his career, Dr. Patel has held academic appointments at the National Institutes of Health, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. His clinical expertise includes general surgery, endocrine surgery, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, adrenal disease, and neuroendocrine tumors.
Dr. Patel is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and Society of Surgical Oncology. He currently serves on the Research Committee of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and is a member of the Editorial Board for British Journal of Surgery Open.
In addition to his clinical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Patel has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to education, leadership, and community service, including volunteer physician service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
