Why did you choose Brown?

I chose Brown because I wanted a residency program that would not only train me to become a skilled surgeon, but also a compassionate physician who thinks about solutions on a global scale. Being close to home was important to me, and the residents felt like family from the moment I met them during interviews, a feeling that was further solidified during my second look. The faculty were equally welcoming, and Brown's commitment to underserved communities and innovation deeply resonated with my goals as a future surgeon.

What are your favorite things about Providence & RI?

THE FOOD SCENE. There is so much to eat. I also like that we are surrounded by a lot of water bodies and have easy access to the ocean. Finally, I love knitting and crocheting and appreciate the wide range of yarn stores in Providence.

Plans for the future?

I am currently interested in Surgical Oncology/HPB and Cardiothoracic Surgery, but I am excited to explore the other specialties general surgery has to offer. Underlying all of this is my desire to incorporate my interests in global health and health equity into my surgical practice, as well as my hope to engage in mentorship and inspire future physicians of color.
