Biography

Hometown: Kissimmee, FL

Undergraduate: Amherst College

Medical School: Tufts University School of Medicine

Why did you choose Brown?

I chose Brown because of the program’s dedication to helping URiM residents be successful in surgery, the high level of trauma exposure, and the ability to work with Spanish speaking patients. Dr. Miner, Dr. Moreira, and Dr. Beard are walking the walk through their recruitment, mentorship, and support of URiM residents. There is no shortage of trauma activations, and I cannot wait to see the diverse pathology that comes through the bay.

What are your favorite things about Providence & RI?

All the water features, from the beautiful beaches to the rivers and harbors. Half of the rivers have bike trails that I cannot wait to explore.

Plans for the future?

I want to be a Dad and potential dog owner. I also plan to complete a fellowship in Surgical critical care. I see the SICU as a place where all aspects of medicine are necessary to serve a patient. A Surgical intensivist needs to possess both knowledge of the intricate pathophysiological needs of a patient while simultaneously being compassionate and caring. The ability to empathize with a patient and their family and get them through a difficult time fills my cup and keeps me moving forward.
